Company History


        In 1920 Walter W. Campbell came to Grays Harbor County from Vancouver, Canada to convert the sawmill industry from steam to electricity. After spending a few years in the area, Walter saw a need for a electric supply source and trained people in the electrical field for the Wood-products industry.

 

        In 1923 Walter (Bill) Campbell formed Industrial Electric Service Co., Inc. His first location, 414 S. F  Street in Aberdeen, WA. provided Electrical Supplies, Motor sales & Repair and Qualified electricians for new  and changing market area.

 

        After 20 years on F Street, Industrial Electric had outgrown their current location and moved to 319 S. I Street. This new facility gave IESCO the opportunity to  expand it’s Electrical Wholesale, Motor / Apparatus repair shop and Contracting Divisions to keep up with the ever-changing requirements  Pulp & Paper, Lumber, Shake & Shingle Mills and other Commercial / Industrial facilities expanding in the area.

 

          In 1962 Ervin A. Johnson

took over as President, allowing

Walter Campbell to retire. Erv a

Graduate from The University of

Washington’s Engineering Depar-

ment, continued to expand IESCO

and in 1969 built IESCO’s current

location at 2100 Industrial Road,

located in the center of the Port

of Grays Harbor’s Industrial area.

 

          1969 and 1970 were exciting

years for Industrial Electric with a new warehouse and state of the art apparatus repair center, a decision was made to separate the electrical  contracting division into a separate corporation.

 

          Named after Walter Campbell,

Campbell Electric was formed to

supply the quality manpower to

keep up with the ever changing

technology of the wood-products,

commercial and industrial Industries

of Grays Harbor County and the

Olympic Penninsula.

 

         After 80 years of service to the electrical industry, Industrial Electric Service Co., Inc. has strived to maintain the reputation for offering highest quality products, sales and service to it’s customers and the community it serves.
